This is an animation of the smoke distribution from a nuclear war between Russia and U.S. from 150 Tg smoke, which could be produced by the entire current arsenal, even when reduced by the current arms control treaty in 2012, as it is spread around the world by the winds. The smoke is heated by absorbing sunlight, lofted into the upper stratosphere, and blown into the Southern Hemisphere.
